Biggin Hill

Biggin Hill is a desirable town in the midst of beautiful countryside

Biggin Hill is a town renowned for its rich aviation history and the stunning green spaces that surround it, including wonderful sunsets across the valley.  Located at the far edge of the London Borough of Bromley, on the border with Kent and Surrey, Biggin Hill offers a welcoming community and a relaxed suburban lifestyle, making it an ideal place for families, professionals, and retirees.  Surrounded by countryside, central London is only around 17 miles away so residents can benefit from a semi-rural lifestyle with many local conveniences amenities of larger towns, like Bromley, Orpington and Sevenoaks not far away.

Steeped in history as home to the RAF until 1992 the airport still brings interest to the area, even if that is watching the planes whilst enjoying a coffee at The Lookout Café or taking a flying lesson!  You can also visit the museum to understand more about the area and its history.

The town is often described as having two areas ‘Biggin Hill Top’ and ‘The Valley’. In reality this just describes whether a property is located at the top of the hill or in the valley.  Each area is conveniently served by a selection of shops.  The hills of Biggin Hill mean that many properties benefit from good views across the town landscape or fields beyond.

Biggin Hill offers a diverse range of properties, with detached and semi detached houses, town houses and a selection of period properties. Some properties benefit from good plot sizes and countryside outlooks.  For those seeking contemporary living, Biggin Hill also includes newer homes and apartments.

Amenities in the centre include a modern library and swimming pool, where many local children attend swimming lessons.  Conveniently there is a good selection of shops, including Waitrose, Tesco Express, Pets Corner and Costa, and a selection of independent cafes and businesses, including an independent butcher, drycleaners, Holly’s Little Shop & Tea room, The Spitfire Café, Chinese and Indian restaurants, charity shops and several excellent takeaway options!  The valley is further served by a more shops at Roundway and Rosehill Road.

The recreation ground is a lovely outdoor area with a playground, games court, skate bowl and outdoor gym, plus a delightful Wildlife & Sensory Garden, a small wildflower meadow, football pitch and seating and picnic tables.  There is also a small recreation ground on Kings Road in the valley with a young children’s play area and games court.

There are four churches, including St Mark’s Church, also known as The Moving Church which has an interesting history!  Other churches include the St Teresa’s Catholic Church on Haig Road, The New Life Church on the Main Road and Westerham Hill Baptist Church.  The town benefits from two doctors, dentists and vets.  Stock Hill Medical Centre and Norheads Surgery, Smiles and Sunningvale Dentists, Kings Road Vets and Medivet on Haig Road.
